A Letter from our fouNder
Why I'm passionate about inspiring female students to design the life (and career) they love...
In 2014, I founded My Social Canvas with a desire to combine my passions for mentorship, girls education, and fashion. Although My Social Canvas is a business, it has always been intensely personal to me.
Since the beginning, the heart of My Social Canvas has been much more than fashion. My true passion is supporting young women and girls of all ages as they pursue their dreams in school, business, and life.
I love going to work knowing that My Social Canvas has the opportunity to inspire the next generation of girls to dream big and design a career that not only looks good on the outside, but one that feels good on the inside too.
I recently had the opportunity to attend the United State of Women Summit hosted by the White House. It was a celebration of change-makers ranging from First Lady Michelle Obama to Oprah. As I walked into the first day of the summit, a wave of emotion hit me. I felt extremely humbled to be given the opportunity to connect and learn from some of the most inspiring women in philanthropy, business, and government. The three day summit brought together thought leaders that are committed to breaking the glass ceiling for women and girls globally. It was such a sincere honor to hear from women that inspire me each and every day. As I sat there listening to these brilliant and passionate women share their own stories of success, failure, and how they persevered, I realized that we all had something in common. Our success was in large part, due to access to great mentors and education.
At that very moment, I knew what was in my heart. I was certain that while I'm passionate about building My Social Canvas, and can't wait to continue the momentum of my business, I'm equally thrilled and excited to launch 'Design the Life You Love’, the official My Social Canvas mentorship and education program. Design the Life You Love serves the mission of inspiring, training, and supporting female students in their pursuit of designing a life and career they love. The two organizations offer students mentorship opportunities, job shadow experiences, and career coaching in business, social entrepreneurship, philanthropy, technology, design, and fashion.
Thank you for taking the time to hear my story. I invite you to get involved in our work helping young women design the career they love. We can't wait to collaborate with you!
